Description

OK fellow artists, this piece had been duplicated a dozen times now. I take it as a compliment. The only thing i do ask is that if you are going to use this as a tattoo, use it as a reference. change some things, make it original, and do a good job! Thank you, Carl Grace.

very strong work, very strong. I agree, i love day of the dead work but now that it is everywhere i feel i have to be selective about the work i do with it as well.

There are several minor criticisms that i have with this piece (by the way, it took awhile to really find anything): the strand of hair that cuts across the forehead and left eye (her's) is too strong. it breaks up the face and the cross in an odd spot and detracts from your decoration on the forehead.

I think there could have been more decoration as well. I see that there is a majority of work posted that is in b/w (which by the way is wonderful) but you have experience with color, from how you handled the rose. I am curious to see how you would have handled color with this portrait. subtle, strong, how would you have layed it down?

The teeth feel like nails placed on her lips and not feux skeletal teeth. Use them as a decoration with outline and color, accentuate them, or at least cap them off at the top.

Lastly, the design on the chin is too bold and flat for rendering that you have done. no where else on her face is there any other design or element with that much contrast. It feels like a sticker and not paint, like the way you handled the shading on the nose, which by the way is very subtle but strong.

all in all, a wonderful piece and i am glad i came across it. i look forward to seeing more of you work.

thanks for showing,
